Pretty Paper Roses

“You are responsible, forever, for what you have tamed. You are responsible for your rose.” - Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Have you ever checked out Ruffled? It is a fabulous source of inspiration for weddings and trends that are both creative and stylish! I just love it and try to stop by weekly for inspiration.

Anyways, a recent visit there inspired me to make these paper roses for the wedding keepsake box I am working on. I took a little licence with their tutorial. I used two different papers per rose. I also cut the spirals with edger scissors for additional texture and added paper leaves. I was very pleased at the way they turned out.

I can't wait to show you my finished keepsake box! It has been a couple years coming!

Bridal Inspirations

Oh how I wish BHLDN existed back when I was planning my wedding! This online store has extraordinary vintage-inspired gowns, lingerie, shoes, jewelry, and other accessories for your special day. For the wedding industry, their prices are pretty reasonable too! Not surprisingly, it comes from the same folks behind Anthropologie (a store I wouldn't mind moving into)!
Here are a few of my favorite looks:
You can even take a quiz to see what type of bride you are -- apparently I am a nostalgic romantic -- I'll take it!
If you love wedding fashions, you should definitely check them out!

Lovely Brides

So very happy that Lisa Loeb has found love!

And I find it almost ironic that she got married in the same year that I will be married!
I practically idolized her after "Stay" came out in 94'! She made wearing glasses cool!

And really, who doesn't feel a connection to "Stay"? It's arguably one of the best songs of the 90s and it just so happens that it came from one of most favorite movies of all time, Reality Bites!

I must admit though, I am a little sad because now that she's officially of the market I bet there won't be a reprise of her show #1 single on E! That show was too funny!

And here's just a clip from Reality Bites to help get you through your Friday! Have a great weekend!

Vintage Wedding Dresses

I have been thinking about a costume change for the reception. I haven't really worked all the details out, but I think it would be so fun to change into a party dress to maximize my rug cutting potential! I'm thinking something Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, or the cast from Mad Men inspired. Below are some potential looks. Any thoughts?

Cakes!

So, we pulled the trigger on the cakes!

The bride's is an amaretto cake with a strawberry mousse filling and pale pink buttercream icing. The cake will be accented with petite sugar strawberries, blossoms, and leaves.

The groom's cake is the grooms little baby, The Met! Imagine this little beaut in chocolate!
